Please join us as Lamar Robertson returns to his Kodály roots in St. Louis to present fun and engaging ways to teach our elementary music students. Lamar's life-long commitment to music education has been an inspiration to teachers for many years. He began his Kodály training in the 1970s and can be credited with helping spread the approach around the country with the books he co-authored, An American Methodology, Yearly Plans, My Music Book Series, Directions to Literacy: Teaching the Older Beginner, and From Folksongs to Masterworks.
His work over the last four decades with annual summer Kodály training sessions, the Louisiana Association of Kodály Educators, and the countless sessions he has presented helped him earn the Lifetime Achievement Award from OAKE. Although he is now retired, he continues to support the Kodály approach by mentoring new teachers.
St. Louis Area Kodály Educators is an affiliate chapter of OAKE.
